Great sentences! I think you have a good handle of these definitions and using them in a proper way. The only thing that I want you to think about is your verb tense and subject/verb agreement. For instance:
The trainer fortifies (if it's the present tense, and the subject is singular, the verb should end with "s") his class...
OR
The trainer fortified (if it is in the past)...
The refugee seeks refuge...
The refugee sought refuge...
Beth and Jane were (was is for a singular subject; because there are 2 people, you must use "were") having a dialog over the phone.
