Woodstock thunder

I have writer's block, please help

It was a scorching hot summer morning of 1982 .The sun rose high over the Woodstock farm ,triumphantly chasing the moon back to it's shadowy retreat.

Artemis Riel Woodstock woke suddenly at 7AM to the sound of crows having a buffet out of this springs harvest.

It became clear to him that his paper mache scarecrow wasn't getting the job done.Art had recently requested of his father that he be allowed to construct a new scarecrow for the farm .The last one had mysteriously caught fire and almost set fire to a third of the farms crops. Art's father suspected the Wilkinson brothers, who were always trying to sabotage his plans.Art saw this as a great opportunity to earn some extra cash from his father.

''What in God's name is going on out there''Art's father yelled as he pulled open the window to his bedroom.

By this time Art was already in the fields fending off the shadowy black vermin with a broomstick.

''Uuh ,nothing Dad, just feeding the chickens.Feeding the chickens? he thought, what a ridiculous excuse for an excuse.I might as well have said the chickens were being abducted by aliens. His father's continued shouting brought Art back to earth.

''Well, try to keep it down. Your mother's trying to sleep.I'll be down in a minute'',his father said from within his room.

Robert Riel Woodstock was a moderately tall man whose' neighbors called him Woodstock willow. His gnarled, boney and vein filled hands and arms, along with his shaggy faded hair gave one the impression of a weeping willow tree.He was also of Native American and Scottish decent.
While his wife was African American.

''Egg soup again Lillian?''Robert said jokingly to his swan like daughter, as he walked past the kitchen.

''Well maybe if Mom was ever awake this early, she could tell me how she makes her omelets''Lillian said as she wrestled with the fried eggs.

I'd be exhausted to if i had to deal with you meddlesome kids all day long''.Her father said laughing as he stepped over his youngest child Lucy who was playing with Lego's in the middle of the hallway floor.

Lillian threw a damp rag at her Father's already damp looking willow head, as he hurried though the door.

Robert found his two sons talking in the field.

''You call that a scarecrow?Art's stocky older brother Benjamin said ,setting a stack of hay down that he brought back from the stables.Lucy has dolls that look scarier than that ''He continued as there father approached.

''We'll worry about the scare crow later, there father said standing by the barn with his arms folded.Today is a very important day for all of us.Today is the day that we drive three score of cattle to greydey farm. Now I want You both to be on Your best behavior, because your sister is coming with us.The two of you are enough trouble as it is''.

''Aw Pop,you know Lilly couldn't drive cattle to save her life''.Ben said as he sat on the stack of hay.

''I heard that'' Lillian yelled from the living room window.

''Yeah, well their's a lot more were that came from, so consider yourself lucky.Benjamin said his arms out wide as he walked towards the house.

Just then they heard a loud crash coming from within the house.Soon after Lillian cam running through the front door with a piping hot spatuler in hand.

''Oh hell naw'' Ben said flying past his brother in the opposite direction.

''Ouch''Robert said, feeling the hot sting of the spatuler as he restrained his oldest child.

A DREAM DEFERRED

What happens to a dream deffered?

Does it dry up like a raison in the sun?

Or fester like a sore--

And then run?

Does it stink like rotten meat?

Or crust and sugar over--
like a syrupy sweet?

Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.

Or does it explode?

Mother to Son

Well, son,I'll tell you:
Life for me ain't been no crystal stair.
It's had tacks in it,
And splinters,
And boards torn up,
And places with no carpet on the floor-
Bare,
But all the time,
I'se been a-climbin on,
And reachin' landin's
And turnin corners,
And sometimes goin' in the dark,
Where there aint been no light.
So, boy, dont you turn back.
Don't you set down on the steps.
'Cause you find it's kinder hard.
Dont you fall now-
For I'se still goin', honey,
I'se still climbin',
And life for me ain't been no crystal stairs.

Sorry, I got the tittle wrong last week.

Game Day, revised and edited

One crisp autom afternoon ,with trees weepingly declaring the end of summer, my two older brothers decided to take me to the local recreation center to play some ball.I was only 13 years old at the time and we didn't usually hang out much so I was really looking forward to going, and I was ready to go in no time at all.

Aparrently thats not what my brothers thought as I could hear my oldest brother Jamal running down the hall.''Hey abdussalaam, hurry the hell up or were gonna leave your short self hear'' he shouted as he pounded on the door to my room.

Jamal had a some what wolfish apearance ,with a frizzy afro ,hooked nose and sharp and pointed teeth. His birch wood skin gave him a much darker complection than my second oldest brother and myself.

''Yo, Jamal, let me barrow a pair of your jordan's today'' Hakeem yelled fastening his due rag as he jogged up the stairs. Hakeem's Galieth stature made him the taller of my two brothers, and he has the same skin complection as me.

''Nah bro, you know how exspensive them joints are? The last pair that I let you barrow had one of the tungs torn out and were missing the shoe strings'' Jamal said standing by the banister as he pointed to the shoe shelf which was visable from the top of the stair case.''Take a pair of my nikes instead Jamal said as I came hurrying out of my room.

''Bout time, Forrest'' Jamal said to me as he handed Hakeem a pair of nikes from his back pack.

''Hey chill, I was just lookin for my shorts man''I said stuffing the rest of my gym clothes into my duffle bag.

''Boy shut up, or I'll still leave your slow self hear''! Jamal said as he strapped his pack on.

''Then what are we waitin for, lets go'' I said ,runing towards the stairs.

As we were heading out of the house our older sister Yasmeen yelled to us from the kitchen and told us to be back by 6 pm .

''Don't worry Yas, we will''Jamal said as we left.

On the way to the recreation center we played taps with Jamal's new Spalding TM basket ball ,which I thought to myself probably wasn't a very good idea because Hakeem almost got hit by a car.

We arrived their in one piece however and found a fair amount of our friends there as well.

''Yo what up, Hakeem'' Marcus, a kid in our neighborhood said walking toward Hakeem.

''Hey what it is, Marcus '' Hakeem said as he tied his sneaks.

Marcus was about the same height as Jamal at that time and almost everyone called him pee wee because of how his head was shaped.

We started two teams of three players each. One team consisted of my two older brothers and myself.

The other team had Pee Wee ,a kid nicknamed speedy, and a 6 ft 6 in. 18 year old west indian nicknamed big shaah.

We had a fairly good game, other than the fact that we lost and when marcus knocked me down in retaliation for me causing him to fall with a crossover move. He did so by pretending to trip {Over what I honestly couldn't tell }.

''Ayyo Pee Wee, what the hell was that''Jamal shouted walking towards marcus.

''He was in my way'' Marcus said laughing as he stood near the bleachers
.
''Hey you'd better cool it, or your going to be the next one on the floor'' Jamal said pounding his fist into his hand.

''Yo chill dog, my bad'' Marcus said backing away. That was the last time he tried anything like that.

On the way home I told my brothers I was sorry if I slowed there progress and cost them the game. And Jamal replied ''Are you kidding bro?, I'd chose you as a teamate over those clowns any day''.

Beat the Calculator

Take a look at ”Beat the Calculator”. I think Ralphie especially will like this site.

http://mathforum.org/k12/mathtips/beatcalc.html

I found this through the math class I'm taking.
This webpage includes hundreds of mental calculation tricks for adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, squaring numbers and finding percentages. Pick a few tricks and practice them until you can do the calculation quickly. Then find a colleague, friend, or family member to test your skill. Can you use the calculation trick to get an answer more quickly than the person using a calculator?
