My name is Angie, which is a somewhat short version of my mothers name Angelica. I'm her last born of 10 children, makes me feel special. I reflect my mom more than any other of my other brothers or sisters strong, independent and caring. My mom raised all her children on her own with really no help from our dad. That was a challenge she faced. She always said we were going to be ready for WAR. She taught us how to do everything on our own. She would say "I'm not going to be here forever so you need to take care of yourselves and each other". She never showed us the hardship and struggle she went through. That really inspired me to be the strong independent women I am today. I am raising my two daughters the same way. I'm so proud they are great kids! I have taken a lot of my moms characteristics. My older brothers and sisters respect me for the good job I'm doing.
It means messenger of God and an angel in Greek and Latin. I would say that fits me pretty well. I am a mystery, something like out of the normal or invisible. People can sense a strong presence from me in a good way, interesting! I'm very spiritual and passionate. I have a purpose. I ask myself "What is life?" for me my children, family and friends with out any of them what would it be? It's love really. My heart is full of love. Life for me is a walk in the park on a sunny day and just enjoying the beauty that surrounds us all. That's the meaning of my life.
I am happy with my name. It's what it was meant to be. Just wish I would of gotten a middle name like Faith or Joy. That would of made my name more complete.

My name is Izolda.It doesn't have any means on my native language. When I was born,my parents thought too long ,before to name me. All names, which in my community were using they didn't like. Finally they named me Izolda.
Izolda means beautiful on old Celtic language. Also it was the name of the princess of Ireland in the legend of ''Tristan and Isolde''. Its about an impossible love ,like''Romeo and Juliette'', ''Isolde the bride of the king of Cornwall,Mark ,who fell in love with the king's nephew Tristan, after they mistakenly drank a love potion...''
I like my name. But,when I was young, I wished to change it. Right now I don't remember
''why?''. And,I don't wanna change it anymore!
It is a tradition to give your name to one of your grandkids in my community.So,I'll do.

Coney Island Name History

Native American inhabitants, the Lenape, called the island Narrioch[citation needed] (land without shadows), because, as is true of other south shore Long Island beaches, its compass orientation keeps the beach area in sunlight all day.[citation needed] The Dutch name for the island was Conyne Eylandt (Konijnen Eiland in modern Dutch spelling),[2] meaning Rabbit Island. This name is found on the New Netherland map of 1639 by Johannes Vingboon. (New York State and New York City were originally a Dutch colony and settlement, named Nieuw Nederlandt and Nieuw Amsterdam.) As on other Long Island barrier islands, Coney Island had many and diverse rabbits and rabbit hunting prospered until resort development eliminated their habitat.
It is generally accepted by scholars[3][4] that Coney Island is an English adaptation of the Dutch name, Konijnen Eiland. Coney is also an obsolete and dialectal English word for rabbit. Coney came into the English language through Old French (Conil), which derives from the Latin word for rabbit, cuniculus. The English name "Conney Isle" was used on maps as early as 1690,[5] and by 1733 the modern spelling "Coney Island" was used.[6] J.F.W. des Barre's chart of New York harbor in the Atlantic Neptune, 1779,[7] and John Eddy map of 1811 both use the modern "Coney Island" spelling.[8]
Even though the history of Coney Island's name and its Anglicization can be traced through historical maps spanning the 17th century to the present,[9] and all the names translate to "Rabbit Island" in modern English, there are still those who contend that the name derives from other sources. Some say that early English settlers named it Coney Island after its cone-like hills. Others claim that an Irish captain named Peter O'Connor had, in the 1700s, named Coney Island after an island (Inishmulclohy) in County Sligo, Ireland. Yet another purported origin is from the name of the Indian tribe (the Konoh tribe) who supposedly once inhabited it. A further claim is that the island is named after Henry Hudson's "right-hand-man" John Coleman, supposed to have been slain by Indians.[10]

MY NAME.My name means respect for youth. In hispanic countries there are different ways to write it.Juventino, Juvenal, Juventus and Juvencio. It's hard for the americans to say it right. They call me Juvenito, Juven or sometimes they give up so easily to say it. they want me to give, as they call it an usual name. So i tell them to call me Fernando. In Mexico the letter J has diferent sound( hoo) for ju.I've been name named after my father. it's a little funny because . When my mom took me to be baptise , the priest asked her what's my name? She didn't know how to name me; she wasn't even pick a name for me! So my Aunt told her to name after my father's name.As I told you, my name Juventino came from the word juventud or joven meaning Young.I wish! Peaceful
My mother wanted to give me a name with significant meaning. She chose the name Saleema from the Islamic culture. The Arabic name Saleema means peaceful, and she added the letter "A" because I was a girl. My mom chose my name because she felt the meaning was appropriate to how she felt about my birth. I am happy to have this name because it is how I try to live my life.

My mother thought of my name Damian when she was younger. I have a cousin name Alejandro Damian and my name is Damian Alejandro. Damian comes from Greek their are many related words to write in different origins. The name Damien comes the movie "The Oman" about a young boy who has evil powers. My name in Italian is Damiano. The meaning of my name is calm and tame. I like my name in Spanish and Italian it sound sexy. In the future if I have a son I use my name has the middle name. So it could be remember in the family. Damian is a common name in the U.S.
